Queen cells are an economical alternative to mated queens. The queen cells are available from nine days old and must be in the hive on the 10th day. Successful mating is dependent on the availability of mature drones and the weather. For this reason mating cannot be guaranteed and hives must be checked for queen rightness and laying three weeks after insertion of the queen cell. If the  mating has failed, then a mated queen is the best recovery option.

Queen cells must be collected from our yard and will require a temperature controlled carrying case (e.g.Carricell) for safe transportation of the cell.
